I’ve been a part of the South Saint Paul community since I student taught at Lincoln Center in 2002. I fell in love with our wonderful community and my wife and I moved here as a young family starting out our life together. We have gotten very involved in our community and are raising two children who attend South Saint Paul Schools.
I am a professional educator, I first taught in a career and technical education center for fourteen years that served ten different high schools. For the last three years I’ve taught at an arts high school in Eden Prairie. I have always taken a great deal of pride in my teaching and deliver rigorous high caliber instruction in a safe and supportive classroom. As a teacher, I have received several humbling recognitions as I was nominated as a candidate for MN Teacher of the Year and was also awarded Advisor of the Year for SkillsUSA. During my time in education, I have had the opportunity to serve as a union negotiator for six years and just finished my term as a school board member of PiM Arts High School.
Outside of teaching I have found opportunities to serve the youth of South Saint Paul as a scout leader for the last ten years and also currently serve as vice president of the South Saint Paul Show Choir Boosters.
As a school board member I would bring a deep understanding of education, the inner workings of schools and a passion for improving opportunities for the youth of South Saint Paul. It would be an honor to serve our community with my professional experience in education on our school board.
All of our students deserve schools in which they feel safe and supported, have equitable opportunities and are rigorously challenged every day in their education. These would be my guiding principles in every decision I made on the board.
